Read on for our round-up of the upcoming smartwatches we're excited about.
Google Pixel Watch
ETA: Fall 2022
![]()
After years of waiting, the Google Pixel Watch is official – and it will be launched in Fall 2022.
The first smartwatch designed and built by Google was unveiled at I/O 2022, but details are still a little sparse on exactly what we'll get.
Google revealed that the Pixel Watch is made of recycled stainless steel, which should give it a premium feel, and has quick release bands for easy customization.
Fitbit will power the fitness tracking elements of the smartwatch, offering step and activity tracking, 24/7 heart rate and its Active Zone Minutes metric.
Wear OS 3.0 will offer apps, an improved Google Wallet with payments and the company’s voice assistant – plus a new SOS feature.
There will also be a cellular version, and the Pixel Watch will run on an "improved" version of Wear 3.0, with a revamped UI.
The smartwatch is set to be released “this Fall”, alongside the Pixel 7 smartphone, so we’ll have to wait until then for more detailed information.
Apple Watch Series 8
ETA: September 2022
We're expecting an Apple Watch Series 8 on schedule for September 2022 – and there has been a smattering of rumors to go with it.
A design change is unlikely after the Series 7 rolled out a new larger display, but we could see a new body temperature sensor, that was reportedly held back from the last generation.
However, it seems we won't get any blood pressure or glucose tracking this time around.

Apple Watch SE 2
ETA: September 2022

The original Apple Watch SE was launched back in 2020, and was ignored in last year's keynote, so a refresh this September seems odds on.
But allegedly it will gain the always-on display, which was omitted from the original.
There should also be improvements under the hood, but the bad news is that there's a reported price increase to $299. However, all this is pure speculation at this stage.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5
ETA: 10 August 2022

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is also slated for this autumn, and could bring about some sizeable changes from the Watch 4.
It's rumored there will be two sizes of the standard Galaxy Watch 5, with 40mm and 44mm versions slated for launch.
It looks like the Galaxy Watch Classic will be dropped, in favor of a 46mm Galaxy Watch 5 Pro version, which is rumored to have a massive 572 mAh battery. It's also claimed that it will drop the iconic rotating bezel.
There have also been strong rumors that Samsung will add a temperature sensor to its forthcoming smartwatch.
The Galaxy Watch 5 is expected to be unveiled on 10 August and go on sale later that month. Check out our full guide to the latest Watch 5 rumors.
Amazfit Bip 3
ETA: Imminent

We haven't got official details of the Amazfit Bip 3, but it's launched in Brazil and is available on Amazon – and Amazifit's super-budget smartwatch still stands up to scrutiny.
The Bip 3 offers a slightly tweaked design over the Bip U Pro, with a larger 1.69-inch TFT display. That's a lower quality panel in comparison to the full AMOLED you’ll find on its more expensive smartwatches.
The Bip 3 has a 44mm case and is only 7.6mm thick.
There’s a PPG heart rate monitor and GPS built in. That means it’s a decent workout partner – and one of the cheapest smartwatches with GPS you’ll find on the market.
It's rated at 5ATM water resistance, so it's good up to 50 meters, and boasts built-in swim tracking too, along with over 60 sport profiles.
And there’s a quoted battery life of 11 days, which should last a week with heavy use.
There’s no US/EU pricing for the Bip 3 yet, but the price of 249 Brazilian dollars (BRL) works out to around $52 – on par with the Bip U.
3.Xiaomi Mi Band 7
The Xiaomi Mi Band 7 has launched in China, and we're looking ahead to a global release to follow inside the following few weeks.
The Mi Band 7 capabilities a 1.67-inch AMOLED show, up from 1.Fifty six-inch at the preceding technology and Xiaomi claims that the usable screen place has jumped 25% from the Mi Band 6.
